PHOTOGRAPH 1
AJA 132 a 1938 ex North Western Road Car Co Bristol L5G with 1950 Burlingham body. Pictured on the Quantock Motor Services
photographers' weekend in Oct 2007.
Apart from the composition and timelessness of the scene it reminds me of waiting for the bus on cold and wet winter days and seeing it
approach with interior lights ablaze, knowing that I would soon be on board away from the elements.
PHOTOGRAPH 2
AFB 592V a 1980 ex Bristol Omnibus Bristol LH6L with ECW body. Pictured running a special service for the East Somerset Railway in June 2008.
To me this epitomises the typical country bus in it's natural surroundings and has the added benefit of a nicely balanced composition.
PHOTOGRAPH 3
UF 6473 a 1930 Leyland Titan TD1 with Leyland body. Pictured at Amberley Working Museum in Sept 2009.
Several reasons why I choose this shot.
1) Having spent much of my childhood in Hampshire Southdown is my favourite operator
2) It's a Leyland, and was the start of Southdown's association with this make from TD1s through to the now famous PD3 'Queen Marys', and
3) The setting is just right for the vehicle and could almost have been taken at any time in the last 80 years.
