Last time I used the London Midland Great Escape (see on this website
HERE)
I tried to travel as far as possible on the day. Another half term has meant London Midland did it again - anywhere on their system for £10 but
I only had a Sunday free - so I decided to travel around the West Midlands keeping in mind Sunday timetables, engineering etc.
Again couldn't start from my local station at Hall Green because first train into Birmingham on a Sunday is 10 am which is a bit late so I
chose to start and end at Birmingham International this time.
Here are the journeys plus the changes I made:
train 1 Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street
train 2 Birmingham New Street to Walsall via the local stopping service
train 3 Walsall to Rugeley Trent Valley
change of plan - this station is unmanned and has no facilities and on a Sunday first stopping trains from London Midland are after
12 noon - so decided not to stay
train 4 Rugeley Trent Valley to Birmingham New Street limited stop
train 5 Birmingham New Street to Rugby
change of plan - was going to Rugeley Trent Valley via Trent Valley line but Deltic due on special non - stop through station so I wait and
wait and wait for the special
train 6 Rugby to Coventry for a coffee
change of plan - the Nuneaton shuttle arrives at Coventry as I'm about to have a drink
train 7&8 Coventry to Nuneaton and back
train 9 Coventry to Birmingham International
