Aston Manor Transport Museum
held a spring event with 4 routes running and around 12 buses in service. Many buses to Birmingham city centre ran in pairs enabling you to catch
the other one back. The Museum tried really hard to make this a successful day issuing a programme with the admission charge and a list
of their vehicles and a timetable of buses in service. The future of this museum is still uncertain - people can pledge money to it on their website
HERE.
Several of the vehicles at the event came from Wythall Transport museum
(website
HERE)
and individual people and groups such as the Telford Bus Group
(website
HERE).
1. Leyland PS2 EHL 336 was in service through out the day and a big attraction. It's back on the road again and will be at rallies in 2011 so
look out for it. It's part of the Roger Burdett collection and shown here next to former Midland Red DD YHA 283J which generated interest in
my collection of pictures from last autumn on this website
HERE.
2. Line up of some of the vehicles including Daimler SD BON 472C and Daimler CLC5 LOG 302 which were both in service.
3. Line up of various MCW Metrobuses in various liveries, half of which were in service.
4. Double entrance NOV 796G was on static display - we never had dual entrance buses in Somerset.
5. Former Midland Red PHA 319M was one of two similar vehicles on show during the day.
6. General view of older and more modern Birmingham buses.
7. Metrobus in Timesaver livery with excellent seats - I know because I travelled on it as it did one trip to the city centre.
8. MHA 9012F is a BMMO S22 from Wythall Transport museum and dates from 1968.
9. BHA 656C is CM6T coach [with toilet] dating from 1965 and part of the Wythall collection.
