Bus to carry a plane!

Dennis Basford writes (22 July 2010):

I took the three attached photo's last Sunday at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. I am always surprised at the uses elderly buses get put to but being used as a mobile home for a small light aeroplane is a new one on me.

Branded buses off route

David Gambles writes (27 July 2010):

Just to show that it isn't just Stagecoach buses in Chesterfield that stray off the routes for which they are branded, here's a picture of a Go North East Mini Pointer Dart on route 74 to Great Whittington in Northumberland.

The bus is branded for the "Kingfisher" services 69, 69A which provide a half hourly Monday to Saturday frequency from Wardley, Leam Lane Estate, Low Fell, Swalwell to Blaydon Bus Station. Service 69 continues to serve Winlaton Bus Station, whilst 69A serves Crawcrook, High Spen, Chopwell and Blackhall Mill, all of the routes being south of the River Tyne.

The 74 service, which is a Northumberland County Council contract, runs from Newcastle Eldon Square bus station and travels north to Ponteland, Darras Hall, Stamfordham and on to Great Whittington.

On Sundays the route number becomes 74A with a slightly revised route. The service is normally served by a selection of Mini Pointer Darts in all over yellow livery or occasionally a MPD in full Go North East livery will appear.

Kingfisher branded MPD travels along Woodside in Darras Hall on route 74 on 27th July 2010.

Go North Eastern Dart

Go North East branded MPD's seem rare these days, as most of them have been branded for other routes and here we see one on the Sunday service 74A in Darras Hall, heading to Ponteland and Newcastle.

'GENERAL' is somewhat wide ranging! When we know what areas or categories people are going to send in contributions for, then we can be more specific. In the meantime, here are some random photographs to get you thinking, all taken in summer 2010.
