A Visit to the Great Central Railway Nottingham at Ruddington
We enjoyed a Saturday trip to Ruddington (31 July 2010) for a ride or two on the railway and a browse around the exhibits . . . and a look
in the sky!
We arrived in good time for the first train to Loughborough at 10:30, This was late due to operation difficulties, so we decided to walk
through the country park to photograph it’s departure. 47292 was the loco rostered to haul the train. After it departed we were
treated to some stock moves involving CL20 D8007; 46010 and CL25/3, D7629.
We went for the next train, the Class 47 was replaced with the 25 and we enjoyed a couple of trips through to Loughborough. Good views of
Brush works can be seen from the train, a couple of Class 92 locos were seen. We returned to Ruddington where we wandered around the exhibits.
A 1960 Plaxton Panarama coach was under restoration in the shed. An evil looking ex Nottingham Atlantean numbered 666 and an excellent
Barton halfcab were amongst the buses on display.
A couple of aircraft arriving at East Midlands airport were seen on our way home, the first being a Bmi Baby
Boeing 737 and the second being a Ryanair Boeing 737-800.
